Overview
Dulux Trade Alkali Resisting Primer is a one coat primer formulated for use with interior and exterior plaster and masonry surfaces that may contain alkalis. It binds powdery surfaces and is also highly regarded for its excellent stain sealing properties. Ensure that the surfaces to be primed are sound, clean and dry (it is particularly important that new surfaces are completely dry) and free from all defective or poorly adhering material such as efflorescence, dirt, grease or wax.
- Where necessary, surfaces should be rubbed down using a suitable abrasive paper and then dusted off.
Please Note: Special precautions should be taken when preparing pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.
Application
We always recommend to perform a test patch on a small area of the surface to be painted to ensure you are happy with the finished results.
- Apply one coat of the primer with a brush only.
- As with all solvent based paints, do not use in temperatures below 5°C and do not spray.
- Allow to dry for 24 hours and apply an appropriate finishing coat or paint system.
